One two-month journey through Australia has been cancelled following the tragic passing of an older lady who was stranded by the cruise liner on a remote island.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the excursion for a break. The vessel left without her and returned several hours later after the crew became aware the woman was missing.

A major hunt located her person the following day.

Officials are investigating the incident, in coordination with investigators and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer announced that passengers and crew on the ship were informed that the continuation of the cruise had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and prior mechanical issues".

In a statement, he mentioned that guests would be given a total repayment, and said the company was working "to arrange the return journeys of the individuals via chartered flights".

Officials also issued an revised statement, and said they had "issued a notice to the Commander" banning any further travelers from entering the ship.

The official said that they would inspect the vessel in Cairns upon its arrival.

The liner initially left the Australian port on 24 October, and was just two days into the journey at the time of the 80-year-old's demise. The remote island was the opening port on the itinerary.

Travelers on the ship - who generally pay large sums of money to take part in the voyage - were taken there for a day trip with the choice of trekking or underwater exploration.

Relatives Reaction

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her loved ones was "surprised and grieved that the vessel left the location after an planned excursion without my parent".

Via her announcement, she characterized her mother as an "vigorous elderly person" who was a affiliate of a hiking organization.
