Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
American actor Finn, who appeared in beloved television series including "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA this Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a statement.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
An Extensive Career on Screen
His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, like:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies encompass "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
Off-Screen Life
Outside of his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored countless students during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, peer actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared on social media.
Pat Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
