Football Expert Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match winning streak was ended by the Black Cats before the global break, however can the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, fans and a range of special visitors.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Football and Family Life

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend soccer side," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' only on the road win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.

So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.

A family member advised me to get Bees forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

They have have plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not do that. Rather, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's home form, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
