NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage includes live text of Sunday's games on various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard on designated networks covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six in the football calendar , following last week's talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking in those games was the amount of infractions each committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the fourth period versus Denver, who play in London this weekend.
But it was good to observe how Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall and then direct three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory by four points.
The Broncos boast the top defender in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and Denver won that battle.
They executed the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily rushing extra defenders instead they might position two linebackers in the interior then drop them out and send a nickel off the edge.
At the start of the season, it was noted on a program how Denver might emerge as this season's dark horses. They finished last season well and excelled of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?
New TE their tight end has stepped up big while recent running back JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (402) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).
I love how the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
That shows that the Broncos are a team aiming to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes while maintains in favourable situations.
This has helped QB Bo Nix, who came the NFL as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to pass anywhere, however they lack the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional arm talent, which is different, plus he's so athletic.
His assets are his mobility, being able to pass on the run, as well as using different arm angles to deliver throws when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to deliver that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays great composure under pressure and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to evade being tackled whenever possible and is able throw under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
If you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the defence to be in play for longer, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the field vertically and horizontally. It can be exhausting.
The quarterback has pushed back at Payton during games sometimes and it seems Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for the coach to coach a young quarterback who's similar to moldable clay. The coach can truly develop him the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton owns a championship and now surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. I think the success the Broncos are experiencing on offence is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB helps make him into who he is.
There's no better a better guy in your ear, to assist you during difficult moments and boost self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they good enough to face a top squad at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.
Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're working above average, that's a solid position to be in their division. The key is is maintain this path.
They're really good at leaning into their strength, which is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets in London. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad yet to win a game.
Since the NFL started recording takeaways decades ago, the Jets are also the first team to go without any turnovers in five outings, which is surprising considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.
Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
In their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the division.
This hinges on what version Kansas City shows up they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
