Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
