The Renowned Musician Calls On Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely let down if it fails to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The song was recorded after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of performers appearing on Lullaby includes a range of prominent voices from the scene. All took part in the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a group of music creators. The song features a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The team running the project have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The situation in the region was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a couple of million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and proving that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
